Students have spent the first three weeks becoming familiar with concepts related to Ecology and Ecosystems. The textbook for Science 2200 is Science 10: Concepts and Connections. In Science 2200 we will cover Units I and IV which involves a study Ecosystems and Human Activity(Unit I) and Weather (Unit IV). To this point we have covered Section 1. and 1.1 as well as the introductory sections to the text. We have done additional work on wolves with the use of a handout. Students should have completed definitions of the following terms from 1.1: food chain, producers, consumers, herbivores, decomposers, nutrients, carnivores, and habitat. In addition we have also identified the 4 reasons for the disappearance of frogs.
Students are reminded that class attendance is crucial to success in the course and periods of absence will no doubt impact on achievement.
Students and parents are also asked to note that a lot of supplemental material in the course can be found on the following website: www.science.nelson.com
That site is also referred to throughout the text.
Have a good Thanksgiving Day weekend.
